This is the 2nd year of Ocean’s Calling , a large music festival on the beach here in Ocean City, Maryland with bands like The Killers, Blink 182, Sublime, OAR, and so much more! This year they’re adding a second festival, the country version of the festival, Country Calling will be the weekend after Oceans Calling.
This Year’s Schedule & Festival Map
My Top Country Calling & Ocean’s Calling Tips:
Make sure you have a clear bag: There are so many cute options, I like this one from Amazon!
Wear comfortable shoes: Can’t go wrong with sneakers or xtra tuff boots are a durable and comfortable option in the rain.
Prepare for all weather: Have a poncho or jacket on standby! The weather last year was super unpredictable.
Rent a locker: In my opinion, it’s worth it to rent a locker on the first day. That way you’re able to bring a poncho, blanket, refillable water bottles, jackets, portable charger, etc, and leave everything in the locker for the whole day or week. You’ll have a hub and won’t have to carry things around!
Plan a meeting spot: Cell service is IMPOSSIBLE, so plan to have a meeting spot and time in case you get separated from your friends, especially if you plan to go to separate stages and split up. You most likely won’t be able to call/text people when you’re on the festival grounds.
Pace yourself with the booze: 12 hours is a long day to be partying and it’ll catch up to you.
Don’t worry about bathrooms: There’s plenty of them and they were decently clean last year. Bring hand sanitizer/wipes to clean your hands throughout the day!
Coming and going: You can come and go from the festival during the day up until 7pm.
Buy merch before the event begins: There are separate merch lines for artists and festival merch but both lines get crazy and you don’t want to spend your time at the festival in merch lines!
pro tip: Store your goodies in your locker so you don’t have to carry them all day.
Don’t forget to take it all in: Take the time to walk along the ocean and take it all in… the moon, the music, the lights from the sets, the happy people… honestly it’s magic.
Where to sit down: If you need a place to sit in a chair, where the rides are there are nice ones, or along the boardwalk on the benches.
Other Platinum tips: Get to the Platinum area early and get one of the free lockers (first come first serve), no need to bring rain gear as the Plat area provides free ponchos, and you can check out portable phone charges if you need one. No need to carry a water bottle, they gave them away last year, and anything liquid to drink is free in Plat areas, including alcohol.
Getting There
Highly recommend coming by Bike if you’re close enough (there’s plenty of parking outside the gates). If you’re above like 50th street I’d recommend taking an Uber/rideshare or Ride the bus.
Another option for uptown and west Ocean city people is to come via water . The OC Bay Hopper and Liquid Tiki.
