While everyone is slowly getting into the fall mode, ordering their pumpkin spice lattes, and shopping all the fall fashion, I’m still holding on to every last bit of summer… it’s not over yet! Don’t get me wrong, I love the fall season, but the weather is still warm on the shore and I still have a ton of things I want to cross off of my list before we officially say goodbye to summer.
Don’t throw on your sweaters and turn on Gilmore Girls just yet, and instead do these activities before summer is over!
For My Local Girls
Swim in the Ocean: You can’t close out summer without taking a last dip in the ocean, so grab your friends, throw on the sunblock, and spend your weekend swimming in the sea.
Go Shelling: If you know me, you know I LOVE to go shelling. I always find it super relaxing and a way to calm myself when I’m feeling anxious (especially in the morning). Plus, who doesn’t love finding a few cute shells to take home??
Bike or Walk the Boardwalk From End to End: Go by yourself and listen to your favorite podcast, or grab someone to come along, but it isn’t summer in ocmd without a walk on the boardwalk.
Watch the Sunrise (or sunset!) on Assateague Island: One of the prettiest places to watch the sunrise in my opinion, and you just might see some horses!
Go to a Monday Movie Night on the Beach: Bring your favorite snacks and drinks, blankets, and beach chairs, and go watch a movie on the sand! The last movie is on August 28th so if this is on your list, make sure you don’t miss it!
Go to Sundaes in the Park: Such a fun way to spend your Sunday evening! Enjoy free music from local bands plus a fireworks show at the end of the night. This goes until September 1st!
More to Add to Your End of Summer Bucket List
Have a Staycation: We just did this in Chincoteague and it was so much fun! It’s so easy to overlook the fun activities and spots local to us, so book yourself a room or head somewhere for the day and do all of the vacation-type activities!
Wake Up Early to Watch the Sunrise: The beautiful thing about a sunrise is you can watch one regardless of where you live, so find a pretty spot, cozy up with some coffee, and soak in the view.
Go to a Farmer’s Market: I love grabbing fresh ingredients from the farmer’s market and cooking something with them that night. Such a great weekend ritual!
Go to a Baseball Game: There’s something about baseball that just screams summer, so whether you’re near a professional team or just watch a local game, don’t forget to enjoy it before the season is over.
Go to a Concert: This could mean getting tickets for a bigger name or simply listening to live music at your local brewery or restaurant!
Go on a Solo Date: Solo dates are good for the soul– I try and make them a priority! Fill some time in your day with doing the things you love. I promise you won’t regret it.
I hope this gives you some inspiration on how to enjoy the last bits of summer days!
