I’m a big fan of simplifying hosting as much as possible which is why I highly recommend mastering one or a couple tablescape styles to have on repeat year after year.

A nice Thanksgiving table setting doesn’t have to cost a fortune. In this post I’m sharing my go-to affordable Thanksgiving table decor pieces under $20 that look way more expensive than they actually are.

Affordable Thanksgiving Table Decor Under $20

A JUTE RUNNER

The key to any good table setting is layering – It adds dimension and texture! I start my Thanksgiving table decor every year with a table runner. You can use a traditional table runner or a woven jute table runner (or burlap, if that’s what you call it).

My little hack here is that my jute table table runner isn’t even a runner at all – it’s actually just really wide ribbon! During the holiday season you can find jute like this at most craft stores. Save a few dollars with ribbon and cut a makeshift runner into the exact length you need.

GREENERY

After I have my runner on the table, I’ll anchor my Thanksgiving decor with some greenery or flowers. I personally love the look of faux eucalyptus but if you use fresh eucalyptus it’s fragrant and seasonal.

The key here is don’t make your centerpiece too tall – You want your guests to chat freely over the table without having to crane their necks or feel like something is in their way of conversing with the person across from them.

SEASONAL DECOR

Along with any greenery or flowers, I also like to add in some seasonal touches and produce is one of my faves!

Baby pumpkins make great Thanksgiving table decor. They’re cheap, table-sized, and you can find them at every single grocery store this time of year, or you can opt for plastic pumpkins that you can use year after year.

I buy baby pumpkins prior to Thanksgiving to fill decorative bowls around my house, and when the big day rolls around I just pull some to use for the table.

Other options to try are pomegranates, pears, persimmons, figs, or apple or a mixed basket with a little bit of everything! My grams used to do this and It was always such a timeless diy decor!

CANDLES

I always have these gold votive holders on hand. They work great as Thanksgiving table decor but also work for other dinner parties you may have throughout the year.

These small candle holders look like fairy lights when you sprinkle them across the table. Alternatively, place one at each table setting.

NAME CARDS

Name cards are an easy and affordable way to elevate your Thanksgiving table and ensure sties-free seating day off. If you don’t have Pinterest-perfect calligraphy skills, don’t worry! Anything hand-written always adds a nice, personalized touch, or you can always design something on Canva and print!

CLOTH NAPKINS

Last but not least on cloth napkins! You’d be amazed at how a simple switch from paper to cloth napkins can really change up the entire setting. I’m a simple fan roll using a napkin rings, or an easy way to style them is:

  • Lay out the napkin flat on the table

  • Pick up the napkin from its center, so that when you pick it up, it drapes

  • Tie a jute ribbon around the top, so that the ends/corners are loose

Jute ribbon is the most economical choice, but if tying ribbon isn’t you thing, there are a ton of affordable napkin rings out there. I love these simple gold napkin rings. For a more rustic feel, try these wooden napkin rings.

I’d love to hear how you style your Thanksgiving table! Leave your Thanksgiving table decor ideas in the comments below.
