Halloween is one of those holidays that can be super fun or stressful. Since Halloween is usually when things REALLY start to feel like fall around here, Its quickly becoming one of my favorite seasons to pull out all of the decorations, for both inside and out.
I’m not the most decor-obsessed person on the planet, but I definitely appreciate quick and affordable ways to decorate. I love the feel of a place when it’s decorated and holiday-appropriate, but I’m more drawn to chic, minimalist decorations, or fun and unique themes, as opposed to anything too cluttered or tacky.
With Halloween and Thanksgiving right around the corner, I’ve been looking for inspiration for my own home. Instead of thinking of how I can decorate the ENTIRE house, I’m focusing on sprucing up just a couple spaces – think doorway or foyer, mantel, a table, or even a couple random empty corners. This thought process has been way less stressful than trying to cover so much ground, and it’s totally doable for me, especially with affordable decor ! So I’m sharing some ways to add a little fall/halloween decor around your house and if you’re feeling crafty, make sure to check out these 5 super easy DIY’s.
TIP: Stick with a Theme
Go on pinterest or Instagram and gather some inspo and ideas about “themes” for each room or what stories you want to tall, and what pieces would best fit. That way when you’re shopping, you’re not feeling overwhelmed or lost, or even worse – over purchasing and buying things you won’t actually like in your space.
1. Decorate Your Doorway or Foyer
Adding a little seasonal flair to your doorway, porch or even foyer is a great (and easy!) way to make it feel more like the holidays. It’s one of the first spaces everyone sees and you get to enjoy it every single time you come home too (which let’s be honest, is 80% of the fun anyway!). One of my favorite’s is to create a scene or “theme”, like these spooky village homes and crows, but it could cost as little as $20 if you just wanted to add a few little pumpkins!
You can easily put your own spin on it and go as subtle or as festive as you want. Pumpkins, sticks, and flowers all can hold up pretty well in fall weather, so I like those options. Plus, going to the pumpkin patch is always a fun thing to do this time of year so you could make a family (or friends!) event out of it! 2. Spice up your Mantle
If you have a a mantel in your house, it’s probably going to be one of your favorite ways to decorate in colder months. Something about the decorations first thing when you walk in or next to a fire (or even the idea of it) is cozy and I love it. I’m into the idea of keeping the theme of a house and bringing it into decor – so like gold or silver pumpkins depending on what colors you have in your home.We always use white white blue accents (since we have a super coastal vibe). Again, adding sticks or even greenery to a mantel mixed with these Halloween ideas are durable and so chic.
Fall Eucalyptus: A pretty pop of orange that comes in its own pot, so easy!
Plum Leaves: Snag a few stems to make the prettiest arrangement that you could definitely re-use during Christmas.
Bunny Tail Grass: Nothing screams fall quite like this bunch of the cutest dried grass! Add it to a vase or lay it down on a pretty tray.

3. Add Some Fall Flair To Your Table
Dressing up a table is great because I feel like it makes it more inviting to be around the table, plus it’s just more fun! I’m guilty of often eating my meals at my desk (or even my bed…), but when a table is all decorated, it’s more reason to actually eat there! This is especially perfect if you’re a host and are having any get-togethers soon. Pumpkins are a super easy and classy way to add a few autumn vibes to your table decor.
Glass Pumpkin: I love the look of this $10 pumpkin since it’s super subtle and will go with any home decor! This darker amber glass option is super pretty, too.
Pumpkin Pillow: I’ve seen these everywhere and couldn’t resist getting one of my own! This one is budget-friendly and comes in a few colors.
Pumpkin Candle: I’m alllll about lighting every pumpkin-scented candle when fall rolls around and I like this one because it doubles as decor. A bit of a splurge, but you can still use the glass figurine once you burn through the candle!
Stone Pumpkin: If you’re looking for something neutral and easy to throw in with your current decor, this $10 pumpkin is the one!
For tableware, I think this personalized recipe serving tray (or these “Give Thanks” plates) are adorable – especially when paired with gold silverware. And I know it’s not even Halloween yet, but I thought this stoneware turkey gravy boat or these gold turkey place card holders would just be the perfect way to elevate a Thanksgiving table. While on the topic of decorating the table and cooking in general, how cute is this pumpkin cocotte or decor Makes me want to throw on a cute apron and make a prime rib right now!

4. Switch up the Living Room Decor
Changing out the throw pillows and blankets on the couch is one of my favorite ways to spruce up a room and it make it feel refreshed each season. I like to keep a couple on rotation so that I can switch them out every couple weeks. Here’s some of my favorite fall throw pillows, blankets and living room decor:
Fur Throw Blanket: Something fuzzy is a definite must once the temps cool down, and this blanket makes me want to curl up on the couch with a good book!
Fur Pillow: If you want to make it extra cozy, swap out some of your normal throw pillows with this furry one or add them to your usual set up.

BONUS TIP: Play around With Skeletons
Skeleton decor is all the rage this year and honestly its a pretty fun trend, no matter how old you are. Pick up a skeleton and have some fun playing around with it and setting it up in different scenarios around your house. Whether its chilling on the front porch swing, or hanging out drinking wine in a barstool at your kitchen counter, its fun to see the different scenarios people come up with (and some are pretty hilarious!).

Gold Taper Holders: I love the look of extra candles during the cozier seasons and these taper candle holders are the perfect way to do it so it blends seamlessly into your current decor.

All this talk about decorating for Fall has me itching for Thanksgiving and then the real deal – aka Christmas. I’m not a huge fan of Halloween, but I do love the month of October and how everyone starts to get in the “Fall” state of mind leading up to it, especially all of the fun fall activities.
